Tilly - Our new emotional support Dog
Wolfdale School is for children and young people who have additional needs such as autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety and social, emotional and mental health needs. We provide bespoke educational packages that aim to maximise achievement and prepare children and young people for adult life. We recognise a pattern where young people have been isolated, and we aim to move experiences of a ‘lone’ wolf to that of being part of the ‘pack’.
Students at Wolfdale School often find social interactions, working in groups, trying new things and change incredibly difficult which in turn can cause our children and young people to feel anxious and withdraw. This is where Tilly our emotional support dog comes to the rescue!
Tilly has been part of Wolfdale School for some time now and plays a pivotal role in supporting our children to understand their emotional and physical needs. Tilly has been visiting school on a regular basis so children can walk her, pet her and of course give her a few deserved treats, and in turn Tilly has made our children feel safe and helps with their development of social and communication skills, sense of responsibility, care and compassion. Our children are more relaxed and happier with Tilly being around.
We are so proud of Tilly in officially becoming an emotional support dog and we cannot thank her and her owner Laura enough for being part of our Wolfdale family.
