If you are at the point of searching for a specialist provision, then we know it can be a daunting time.
Come and see for yourself! We run termly parent open mornings which involve small group tours and a presentation as well as the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. You can arrange a visit by contacting the school directly at admissions@wolfdaleschool.leics.sch.uk
How does the admissions process work?
Young Person requires an EHCP
The Local Authority will consult us to see whether Wolfdale School can meet need*
Wolfdale will then get in touch with you to discuss your child and further assess whether Wolfdale School can meet need
Wolfdale will visit the student at their current school for an assessment
Wolfdale will ask the family/carer to visit. This is important as we believe a placement works best when all parties work together
Young Person visits Wolfdale School for a visit or an assessment (if no school visit has been able to take place)
Where need can be met, an offer is sent back to the Local Authority
If the placement is agreed then a transition timetable is put in place
*Please note Local Authorities vary in their approach and the majority would need to authorise specialist placement before placing a young person.
FAQ
Does the young person have to have an ASD diagnosis?
No, they need to have an EHCP. We work with Young People with no ASD diagnosis but that of ADHD, SEMH and anxiety
My child does not leave the house is it worth looking at you?
We recognise some find it difficult to leave the home. At Wolfdale we will still assess and if appropriate will work from the home to build engagement socially and then academically.
What if we do not want Wolfdale?
It is important the Young Person is placed where they can thrive best and this might not be us. Please do not hesitate to contact us though because if we can help in any way we will try.
